The Australian WCG 2006 Finals has not only been home to one of the most prestigious Australian Counter-Strike events in history, but it has also become one of the few spectacles the Call Of Duty 2 community can claim to be a 'decent' LAN event. Despite the undisputedly unfair playing ground of BYOC, the event has garnered a moderate number of teams - a handful of which originate from the top tier of online Call Of Duty 2 play.
Managing to make their way to the Grand Final of the Harvey Norman COD2 BYOC were both team style and 3 Minute Men. Style progressed to the finals match undefeated and thus entered the game with two lives - requiring 3M to beat them twice, consecutively, to take out the event. Before the match style elected mp_burgundy as their Grand Final Map, and 3M mp_rhine. After a coin flip, mp_burgundy was loaded and following 23 intense rounds style managed to edge out their opponent for a 16-7 victory, securing 1st place at the Harvey Norman COD2 BYOC.
1st. team style ($1,000)
2nd. 3 Minute Men (?)
3rd. Immortal Technique (?)
Congratulations to all teams that attended, specifically style, 3 Minute Men, and Immortal Technique who all secured a top-3 placing (and prizes!) for their efforts.
