For those of you who play iPGN on a regular basis...
Why?
In all honesty, I'm curious to know. Considering that there could be scrims instead of iPGN, what's the appeal?
I may be judging a small degree, but my curiosity and yes my frustration far out away my judgemental mindset.
Please, enlighten me as to the appealing qualities of #ipgn-comp, #ipgn-comp2 and #ipgn-comp3.

cause its hard to get scrims.

Now, I've heard this argument before, but the reason it's hard to find scrims, is because everyone's pugging.

its ratshit for anyone in QLD. servers are fucking atrocious and its full of stupid ethnic 12 year olds.

lol i play cos it takes no effort at all to organise. Instead of spending ages trying to get 5 or a war, you just !me :D

anti cheats nice stops most the cheaters
apart from that its pretty much a bait comp to get dpr which appears to be the only important thing

because its very easy to do and people are lazy, and ur rewarded with stats so you can feel good about urself
(im just assuming thats most people's reasoning)

easier that organing a scrim n waiting for people to join et etc + no one really cares about cs anyone more so no point making a team to scrim.
I only play it because there's hardly anything to do. Which is why I usually take a scrim with 4 mates over iPGN. Considering I just don't like the fact that it feels queer playing half the time since I'm not friends with anyone I play with..

i play it cauz our 5 are only one once every week or so and its better shitty cscomp so i play ipgn cauz its better standard, more fun, and u get stats to see how well your doing compared to others

I join whenever i want to have a scrim, dont have a team and theres no one looking to add ppl outside of who they know and i dont like cscomp much. Stats, decent players being present and how its easy are all positives too.

if every team had access to EAC on their own priv servers as well as stats, fairly sure a lot less people would be playing ipgn
I'm still trying to comprehend how it would be harder to host a league (like the ones being thrown up for Source), which incorporate stats, EAC and decent levels of admin'ing.

stats, anti-cheat, ease of access.
You don't do have to DO anything, you can do whatever, then it dings at you repetitively, if you wanna join you click "Yes" or "No" that pops up, you don't spend 10-20 minutes getting your 5 in a server, then another 60 finding another 5.
You get that piece of mind that no one(HOPEFULLY) is cheating.
Stats, everybody loves stats.
That being said, I'd much rather play a REAL scrim any day, it's just iPGN is so, convenient?

#17 i doubt it, its the ease/convenience factor that get most people, all the other stuff are the bonus imo

I always prefer prac over iPGN but we don't prac that much so iPGN is just a easy way to play CS instead of putting together a bad slut team.

can't you disingenuous melbourne fuckers just admit that the inherent advantage offered by the ipgn servers appeals to you?

Pugs are shit, you have so much more fun playing with mates that you know...

pretty sure the ipgn servers feel like a NZ server with 40 ping (for me anyway) I think they are turd... Sydney server even worse.

I play because I don't have a team, don't have time for a team and only play every now and again. Suites me to a tea.
Also the fact that its admin'd means less people piss fart around.
Stats are nice.
Its just as fun as real scrims, if not more so sometimes. Also allows some lesser skilled or experienced players a chance to play with the better guys even if it is only in a PUG environment.
Having come and gone from 1.6, I know how elitest and clicky the community can be (not unlike CSS)
GL finding a team or getting scrims if your new to CS outside of iPGN.
also I like beedee.

Well only two teams play cs online now anyway, so i guess it makes sense for those who still play to pug.

Melbourne onliners like IPGN because;
a) melbourne servers ensure only melbourne onliners get rego
b) stats system to give a false sense of superiority
c) 8==========================================D
d) bunch of cocksuckers

To be honest, I think online cs requires a certain level of organisation if things are ever going to improve.

Since i have started playing cs i have NEVER got worse rego then on those ipgn servers.... plus i get 20 loss :-(

It's not like iPGN-Comp is new, the 5v5 version has been around since about 2003. In my opinion iPGN-Comp had it's best years in 2004-06 (there's about 10% of the comp players from then still playing now), the same time online CS in general was peaking.
Pugs have been around since the height of online CS, ie. back when pES had #pug #pug2 on ETG. There was plenty of scrimming going on then as well as healthy pug participation. The only reason iPGN cops the criticism is because we're the most well-known these days since we've been the most stable one in last couple of years. There's been plenty of other pug channels come and go as well. The difference with us is we have the resources to hang around.
The death of stable online teams and competition created the recent growth of iPGN-Comp, not the other way around.

no #35
The reason it gets criticism is because its annoying when you are advertising in #scrim for an hour with no replies when 2-3 ipgn comps are running map after map with 10 players in each.

the ipgn-comp sydney server was decent for me last time i checked.. which was a couple of months ago. Only recently have I seen Melb players agree to play on a more mutual pinged server over an ipgn-melb server, which is great. But even still the vhm(ish) mob are usually pretty dog about it.. wont deal with getting 5-15 more ping for us to get 30 less per person.
EDIT: I think IPGN-COMP is fun

And 90% of the people in those iPGN-Comp games would rather be playing a proper scrim I'm sure. But they aren't because nobody is in a team anymore, because there's no incentive to be in one.

#37 ipgn isnt at fault in the slightest, it is 100% the players/communities fault that its like it is atm. Everyone is just too lazy so they take the easy way out and use the service that ipgn provides.
