Hey guys,
Looking to go to south America for a month in September. At the moment just Argentina and Brazil but open to suggestions.
Just wondering if anyone's been? What's worth doing? Are the tours worth it?
Lowish budget at this stage so anything on the cheap would be preferred :)

I'm sure this wont be the only world cup i go to. So excited.
ps a good friend of mine stayed for like a year in brazil on exchange and said it was awesome. she brought me back a Sao Paolo jersey :D She also went to a local game at the Maracanã stadium in Reo and said it was incredible.
(pps ANY ONE ELSE HERE GOING TO THE WORLD CUP????????)

i was going to go graff, however staying in aus until the end of the year saving then planning on moving to canada for a few months then PROBABLY (depending on my visa application) will move to england for however long.
However i went to the german world cup, was fucking amazing, i reccommend that you hit the gym NOW rip yourself up as much as you can, get to south africa go bogan as you can for aussie games than take ya top off and find the brazillian marching crew (apparrently at every world cup theres always just a massive group of them)
they will only give you play if your topless but the chicks are fucking hot as shit all they do is march to a spot claim it and get annihilated whilst dancing to crazy brazillian drums.
they were by far the best people to hang out with in Germany, fuck I want to go to south africa now

if your going to argentina try see if there is a classic Boca Juniors vs River plate soccer game on in buenos aires , i went 2 argentina 2ys ago and my flight got delayed 1 day and i missed the game. so devastated.

bolivia is a shit country...
every country in south america is shit besides argentina and brazil.
if u go to argentina go to mar del plata / the beach towns around there. there are good backpackers place in BA which are fucking amazing. then go up north to the border of brazil and argentina; iguazu - where the waterfalls are. then rio/buzius, and stick to the south of brazil. northern brazil is full of shit blacks

From my mate that enjoyed his time in South America, said it was fucking amazing, he didn't get the visa to go to Brazil but everywhere else was great. You must understand that the altitude of most of these countries is higher than aus. My mate had 2 lung collapses during his visit to SA, which made his stay there pretty fucked up.
Sounds like a really enjoyable place to visit just be aware of the possibilities of sickness, if you're tall and skiny the possibilities of lung collapse are increased damatically, really don't skydive like my mate did (fucking moron).

Went to both Argentina + Brazil on a work trip 2 years ago so I did all the tours.
For starters in Buenos Aires the tours are welll worth it just because of the fact it isnt the safest place on earth. At night head on out to 'Cro-Bar', theres vids of it on youtube, its fantastic and on ure way there u pass the hottest prosties u will ever see working on the street.
If you do want a Prosti tho go to a place called 'Black', they have the Most amazing wommen ever, costs a fair bit, think it was $20 jst to get in, but well worth it.
Other than that, make sure u eat at the most famous steak house, it is the best steak u will ever try! Im still salivating at the mouth every time I think of it.
In Rio, definetley go to the Christ statue, and take a guided tour into the favellas, amazing to see how some live compared to the rest. Then just enjoy the beaches and go to Impanieam(sp?) best nightlife and stay away from 'Help' its full of pros and there not to clean!
Hope that helps a bit, oh and ive been told Bolivia is the bomb, so try to make your way there.
