Anyone see the challenge? It made me feel sick. So harrowing and that kind of sh*t needs to be stamped out of the game. Shawcross should get banned for as long as it takes Ramsey to recover.

This article is 110% on the money:

50/50 ball, slightly mistimed challenge, no malicious intent, a 3 game ban is enough.

I doubt that kind of challenge would even get a yellow in any Queensland league.

NO, I didn't mean that you should just tackle a PLAYER incorrectly because he is too QUICK and AGILE. What I said was that Arsenal cop it MORE because they are more technical and quicker to the ball, hence the late challenges.

Its not about PLAYERS being able to tackle better (although that would not hurt) its that with THIS particular tackle the margin was MILISECONDS, both players went for the ball and one came out worse for wear!

Arsenal COP it more than other teams because they have MORE players who are comparable to Christiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso etc... a team FULL of players with these quick/agile characteristics is MORE likely to get injured. Its statistically more LIKELY to happen.

Torres has been injured for MONTHS of this season and LAST season, because of a combination of BAD LUCK and MISTIMED TACKLES, but because he DIDNT HAVE HIS LEG BROKEN IN A MISTIMED TACKLE, theres been no UPROAR.

Im not condoning these kind of actions (when there is the INTENT) but with everything in life, INTENT is a MAJOR component. Every decade FOOTBALL has gotten SOFTER! You hear the commentators and footballers of the past talk about it ALL the time. Give it 40years and itll be a NON-CONTACT sport at this rate.

I don't think he even had his studs up, just a really late challenge, though considering ramsey was so quick to get to the ball he really didn't have time to stop, if he was to pull out of a 50/50 challenge chances are HE would get his legs broken.

...

tackles EXACTLY like this have been happening every week (think fletcher - or worse, mascherano) - half the time it's not even a foul. just because someone got hurt this time (and badly) doesn't all of a sudden make it the worst tackle ever.

if it wasn't an arsenal player that got hurt I have a sneaking suspicion you wouldn't have even made this thread dom

tbh the "arsenal treatment" happens to every creative player in the premier league. im sure there is a gunners forum that is just waiting for you to unleash your small(big?) club syndrome on.

maybe you shouldnt feed your kids on french cuisine and get some bangas and mash in em!

or some chup battys

this for example was much worse on the weekend and Nzonzi the dirty fuck should receive a ban...clearly a less dangerous tackle than Shawcross' but clear intent + malice

torres and drogba i would say theres atleast an argument for
no way are ibrahimovic villa or higuain in the mix as far as im concerned

its not so much his stats (which are roughly on par with torres and drogba, torres stats are actually the best) but the way his done it

last year i would have said eto was the best striker, similarly this year im with rooney based mainly just on his finishing

its actually impossible to argue that anyone RIGHT NOW
is hotter than he is in front of goal

i hate man u as well, but you have to conceed defeat when theres no ammo to fire

ibrahimovic is overrated.
rooney is clearly the best striker in the world at the moment, and probably only behind messi and ronaldo overall

I don't think torres desrves to be in the upper echelon of strikers atm, sure he as class but 2 goals doesn't bring him back in to form.

As much as i hate Rooney and ManU he is definitely full of confidence atm. I would rate him pretty far up on the striking rate atm but then again I haven't kept a good idea on the other leagues etc.
