- What do you look for in a community site, like ESAU?
Well obviously an active community, but beggars can't be choosers and in Australia 1.6 numbers are quite low so after activity i guess some good community based features. User Gallery would be great.
- What's the most important thing: news or forums?
For me its the forums. I have heard so many things on these forums (even non gaming related) before i hear them on other forums!
- Are competitions or website-based events an
This depends on how active the competitions are and whether the players actually enjoy playing in them. Even if you have a fantastic website with the best competition management etc etc, if the players don't like it it will suck. It's more fun to follow an event/competition if the players are taking it seriously.
- Does community-created content interest you?
Yes, it's awesome!

i find some of the most interesting articles on here are the interviews with community members. they don't even have to be like from the top teams or whatever, just active 1.6ers in the community.

most important thing is the forums, pES forums were alot better than these ones.....although alot of that is probably attributed to the people making up the community

it would be good to see after major comps a write up of finals games where it would break down the game and analyse it round by round. For example where strats worked well/didnt work, players that went big for a certain round etc etc.
also would be good to see some articles by decent players about how they go about their game and what they do in certain situations eg. clutches 1v1s 1v2s etc etc.

the above is a good suggestion but who could really be bothered out of the writers here to do so
I remember reading a decent article about an old f0/XR final on train years ago which I think was done by bizarre - pretty insightful but I can imagine it would have taken a fair amount of time to put together

i believe they're talking about john carmack, the programmer that co-founded the iD company which created doom and quake.
most important things for a new successful esport website would be keeping up to date with the online/lan comps going on in aus, regular article that interests the community and an active forum.
it would be best to integrate other games into this website instead of primarily 1.6 (ie gotfrag except it should be gotfrag.AU). this way we can get more exposure to other gamers in different games (dota, cod4, etc) and them to us. after this, credibility can be built and hopefully sponsors will take notice of the new site and help with the prizes/sponsorships of comps and teams respectively.
sorry if i am spouting stuff that you guys already know XD

I always did prefer the tarmac stages on Colin McRae Rally. The gravel stages always felt a little...loose...

- What do you look for in a community site, like ESAU?
Just a nice, easy to use, and active community/forum, plus news/coverage on australian gaming events (obv 1.6) from small 1 dayers to nats etc.
- What's the most important thing: news or forums?
They are both incredibly important, but i think forums are just a little bit more important as things like esports trust etc i wouldnt plan on visiting much or at all as the forums are over here at esau :D . But as you can tell from esau when there is a lack of articles/news/etc it can get very boring very quickly. So both are crucial.
- Why do you visit new websites?
dont generally visit new sites have a few select ones i visit daily. However interesting articles/news/coverage/etc will make me visit a new site, and if theres constant amounts of it i would probably visit the site regularly.
- Are competitions or website-based events an interesting enough attraction to make you visit a website regularly?
Depends on how regularly the events/competitions are. If its a frequent thing then probably, although it'd need a good forums to discuss them etc. If its an infrequent thing then i doubt it.
- Does community-created content interest you?
Yes, i think this is something that needs to be done and included, as it will give a much wider variety of content, will give much more frequent content as there is a larger amount of people that can submit content, and will just in general make the site more entertaining/active.
- What content interests you the most?
* interviews with teams/players/maybe even managers or high-profile people in the esports world
* competition results and good coverage of them ie brackets, scores, results, pictures, news, anything else of relevance to the comp
* news on team/player/clan movements and changes/shuffles/etc are really important imo
* things on gotfrag like the 'a page from the playbook of...' type articles would be really interesting, or things of similar nature to that with strats/gameplans/holds/etc from diff teams/players
* pretty much anything really, all content/features are good, put as much in as possible i dont think u could ever harm the site by having too much stuff, as long as the site remains function, uncluttered and user-friendly.
