werent complete tears so a reco wasnt needed (or so the specialist said) i could either get a reco or just let the ligament strengthen itself which i chose to do. (gym and physio etc)
3 weeks after coming back from my knee injury i did a grade 2 tear of my a/c joint and rotator cuff LOL.
so if i land heavily on my shoulder im screwed aswell lol.

started skiing at 3, boarding at 6, started racing for mt buller at 10, me and my brother still do it.

atm i have 3 boards, one for fun (burton chopper 157) and two racing boards that are both 162+.

have done whistler, apex, sun peaks, steamboat, mammoth, niseko, valdisear, gargellen and most aus/nz peaks. niseko is fucking amazing, you'll love it. gets so much powder that some runs are banned to ski on, as the cables that tow the chairlifts end up being like 1-2 metres from the ground.

How can you say it beats surfing when like you said youve never done it... its just easier to ride a snowboard and carve it etc than ride a surfboard and carve that. I take surfing over it anyday of the week. Everyone to their own though!

up until i moved here from NZ i skiied/snowboarded everywhere in NZ
best is queenstown by far
small town with a huge lake surrounded by ski fields
coronet peak/the remarkables are great check them out if you go there.
night sessions are wicked, tonnes of gooks that dont look where they are going though.
got k-o'd by one of them when i was about 9 on a snowboard, fucking hurt.

i cant remember howto spell it, RHAUPEAHU i think, near taupo middle of north island is another good spot, some awesome runs there used to have time share when i lived in the north and went there twice a year.

been snowboarding since '04...absofknlutely love it. dont think i can go a year without boarding now. ive got 2 boards, 1 is an old all mt board that i got when i first started out, and the other is an option mirror for the park n whatnot

just got back from a 2 week trip to Japan, stayed half the time at Rusutsu and the other half at Niseko. Both resorts have their upsides, but in the end i think Rusutsu wins because theres basically noone there...untracked pow everywhere and stays like that all day, its bloody fantastic and there are some terrific natural bowls if you know where to look, or if your with someone who knows the area. Niseko on the other hand gets a lot more snow than Rusutsu on average, but is FILLED with aussies...like 90% which i guess if you want to party it up a bit is ok. but you can get some pretty big queues sometimes at the lifts, i remember waiting 20 mins for a lift at one point. There is however heaps of awesome pow at niseko as well; to fully take advantage of it you have to go to the out of management areas like the summit, and the bowl at An'nupuri, that stuff is magical like you're riding a hoverboard :D pow up to your waist and deeper in some areas!

But yeah...basically, go off piste or go home! japan is all about the pow and the tree runs, best in the world! you're sure to love it

who did u organise the trip through milky? and how long ya staying for? coz you have to do some daytrips to Rusutsu if you can, its only 45 mins away by bus and i think they can organise it for u at niseko.

heres some pics from rusutsu and niseko actually...these are just some freezeframes from videos which is why they're terrible quality. and most of these are taken on piste coz its a pain holdin a camera while dodging trees :P

Who here snowboards?
Me.

And how much do you love it.
A lot.

Also what gear do you ride?
GNU Riders Choice Magne-Traction (MTX) Snowboard

And where have you been snowboarding?
Mt. Ruapehu, both Turoa and Whakapapa (NZ)
Bears Town, YongPyong, Vivaldi Park and Phoenix Park (KR)

Have fun in Japan Milky! You're going to absolutely love it even though it's going to be fkn cold. Watch out for newbies aye, there's a LOT of them in asian countries. And I'd recommend you to visit Kyoto (Not for snowboarding purposes).

the fuck whistler is bad sponny?? im surprised you didnt melt in the sun from being inside to long.

Steamboat is awesome as well. Whistler is commercial but unless your going on a quick holiday there, its much easier to land a job (more tourists). or you can just sling drugs.

organised through flight centre escuro, we left it pretty late to book, but we seem to have gotten a pretty good deal, and the girl has been helpful. We're going for about 16 days, but spending a few of the nights in tokyo.

One of my friends has heard about Rusutsu as well, and yeah it sounds sick that there's noone there, so we will prob try to check it out for one or two days at least :d

I've snowboarded before but was pretty terrible at it, so went back to skiing.

Andrew, you should go snowboard in colorado. Places like steamboat, aspen, vale, copper, and breckenridge. You'll have a better time because there will be hardly any japs and they'll all love the aussie accent :)

At first we wanted to go somewhere really commercial so we could get pissed every night :P but in the end we found that thats not what we wanted at all! you wanna experience some of the culture over there...not go overseas to hang out with a bunch of bogans like you can do here. anyway we found that japs are probably the best mannered people in the world...and they absolutely love english speakers :D

oh and i think you'll find theres probably less 'noobs' in japan than there are here, its a big part of their lifestyle over there n there are some pretty good riders(not so much freestyle but just riding in general)

oh and milky if youre staying in grand hirafu...check out the fried chicken from lawsons :D
